Regular Season Round 10: Mgzavrebi - Astrali 83-86

Sixth-ranked Mgzavrebi (0-8) made lots of trouble for fourth ranked Astrali (5-4) in Tbilisi on Friday. The visitors managed to secure only three-point victory 86-83. However their fans expected easier game. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 23-13. But Mgzavrebi won second period 19-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Mgzavrebi 48-37 including 17 on the offensive glass. Astrali looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Forward Davit Dadunashvili (196-1996) fired a double-double by scoring 10 points, 18 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Guard Saba Geguchadze (196-2000) chipped in 18 points. Geguchadze is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Forward Giorgi Meskhi (204-2003) produced a double-double by scoring 31 points and 11 rebounds (on 14-of-18 shooting from the field) and guard Luka Qutidze (180-2002) added 12 points, 6 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals respectively for lost side. Mgzavrebi's coach Irakli Maisuradze rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Astrali moved-up to third place. Mgzavrebi at the other side still closes the standings with eight games lost.
