Very important is a road loss of second ranked Pontoise (9-5) against ninth ranked Besancon (5-9) on Friday night. Visiting Pontoise was defeated by Besancon in a tough game in Besancon 48-54. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Pontoise. Guard Valentin Vitale-Boiteux (187-2001) notched 21 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and Serbian swingman Nikola Knezevic (200-1999) supported him with 7 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Even 17 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists by American point guard Vinnie Shahid (180-1998, college: NDSU) did not help to save the game for Pontoise. Naturalized Mali swingman Mamadou Sy (194-1985, college: Cloud County) added 4 points and 10 rebounds. Besancon moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Caen and Les Sables. Newly promoted Pontoise keeps the second position with five games lost. Besancon will meet higher ranked Lourdes-Tarbes (#6) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Pontoise will play against SOPCC (#7) and hope to secure a win.
