Date: April 1, 2022
Rather expected game in Bucuresti where 16th ranked Galati (5-22) was edged by fourteenth ranked Rapid (6-19) 103-100 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 14 points at the halftime before their 63-46 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was American forward Jordan Swopshire (201-1995, college: Colgate) who scored 33 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds. The other American import guard Devon Bookert (190-1993, college: FSU) chipped in 28 points and 6 assists. Rapid will meet higher ranked Timisoara (#5) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Galati will play against Miercurea Ciuc (#15) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
