Regular Season Round 19: Olimpi - Vera 85-80

Another exciting game was again a derby between two teams from Tbilisi: Olimpi (#3) and Vera (#5). Olimpi (11-5) won against visiting Vera (9-8) 85-80. It looked good early as Vera took a 8-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Olimpi took control winning next two quarters and eventually winning the game that evening by 5 points. They made 18-of-21 charity shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international swingman Kakhaber Jintcharadze (196-1993) who helped to win the game recording 20 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. International point guard Givi Bakradze (180-1991, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 15 points and 5 assists for the winners. Five Olimpi players scored in double figures. American forward Zac Seljaas (202-1997, college: BYU) answered with 24 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import guard Aubrey McAlpine (196-1989, college: RMU, agency: Interperformances) added 22 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Vera. Olimpi have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain third place with 11-5 record having just two points less than leader TSU. Vera lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with eight games lost. Olimpi will play against Rustavi (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Vera's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi Dinamo.
