Everything went according to plan in Cergy where second ranked Pontoise (10-5) won against 7th ranked SOPCC (7-8) 72-68 on Tuesday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Pontoise made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game, while SOPCC only scored four points from the stripe. Pontoise forced 20 SOPCC turnovers. Strangely SOPCC outrebounded Pontoise 35-23 including 23 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for American point guard Vinnie Shahid (180-1998, college: NDSU) who led his team to a victory scoring 26 points. Naturalized Ivorian center Mohamed Kone (210-1981, college: Valpo) helped adding 12 points. Pontoise's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side forward Lucas Thevenard (202-1998) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and naturalized Mali guard Ludovic Chelle (186-1983) scored 18 points and 5 assists. Pontoise keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Vitre. Loser SOPCC dropped to the fifth place with eight games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Pontoise will meet Orchesien BC (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. SOPCC will play against Toulouse and hope to secure a win.
