Very important is a road loss of second ranked Benicarlo (16-9) against eleventh ranked Alginet (10-13) on Wednesday night. Visiting Benicarlo was defeated by Alginet in a tough game in Alginet 64-72. Strangely Benicarlo outrebounded Alginet 45-31 including 33 on the defensive glass. Argentinian Alejandro Zurbriggen (194-1995) nailed 12 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side and Lithuanian center Rokas Gadiliauskas (211-1998) accounted for 13 points and 6 rebounds. Four Alginet players scored in double figures. American point guard Deshaun Cooper (173-1991, college: NW Missouri St., agency: Duran International) came up with 17 points and 4 assists and point guard Javier Hernandez (182-1992) added 4 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Benicarlo in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Alginet moved-up to tenth place in Silver. Benicarlo at the other side keeps the second position with nine games lost. Alginet will play against Zentro Basket (#12) in Madrid in the next round. Benicarlo will play on the road against Cartagena (#6) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
