Regular Season Round 31: Rapid - Ploiesti CSM 91-77

There was an upset in Bucuresti where higher ranked Ploiesti CSM (12-15) was defeated by fourteenth ranked Rapid (7-20) 91-77 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 6 points at the halftime before their 55-35 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Ploiesti CSM outrebounded Rapid 46-28 including a 17-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American forward Jordan Swopshire (201-1995, college: Colgate) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 13 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Devon Bookert (190-1993, college: FSU) helped adding 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Swopshire is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the losing side Montenegrin center Mihailo Sekulovic (206-1991) responded with 24 points and 7 rebounds and American point guard Johnathan Jordan (178-1992, college: TAMUCC, agency: Slash Sports) scored 21 points and 5 rebounds. Ploiesti CSM's coach Mihai Popa rotated eleven players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Rapid maintains fourteenth place with 7-20 record. Ploiesti CSM lost third consecutive game. Ploiesti CSM at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the ninth position with 15 games lost. Rapid will meet bottom-ranked Miercurea Ciuc (#16) on the road in the next round. Ploiesti CSM will play against the league's leader Cluj Napoca (#1) having rather not much hope for a victory.
