Very expected game when 10th ranked Lyon (4-12) lost at home to fourth ranked Lorient (9-7) 89-73 on Friday. Lorient made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The winners were led by naturalized Guinean forward Abdoulaye Sy (201-1995) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and Ivorian center Bali Coulibaly (199-1995, agency: Octagon Europe) supported him with 17 points and 4 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Five Lorient players scored in double figures. Lorient's coach Philippe Maucourant used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 11 points and 7 assists by the former international point guard Marc-Antoine Pellin (171-1987) did not help to save the game for Lyon. Guard Theo Rey (194-2000) added 13 points and 5 rebounds for the hosts. Lorient moved-up to third place, which they share with Le Havre and Orchies. Lyon lost eighth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the tenth position with 12 games lost. Lorient will meet at home Mulhouse (#6) in the next round. Lyon will play against the league's second-placed Poitiers (#2) and hope to secure a win.
