Regular Season Round 39: Oostende - Den Bosch 100-69

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Oostende. Second ranked Belgian Oostende faced their close opponent Dutch Den Bosch. Host Oostende (5-1) smashed guests from Den Bosch (2-4) 100-69. Oostende made 28-of-34 free shots (82.4 percent) during the game, while Den Bosch only scored twelve points from the stripe. They outrebounded Den Bosch 36-18 including a 25-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Oostende looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a great evening for Dutch point guard Keye Van Der Vuurst (191-2001) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 assists. American guard Phil Booth (190-1995, college: Villanova) helped adding 17 points. Five Oostende players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American forward Clay Mounce (201-1998, college: Furman) with 11 points and 5 rebounds and Finnish point guard Edon Maxhuni (188-1998, college: LBSU) scored 7 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending Belgian champion maintains second place with 5-1 record behind leader Leiden, which they share with 4 other teams. Loser Den Bosch keeps the second position with four games lost. They share it with Groningen and Den Helder. Oostende will meet league's leader Leiden on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Den Bosch will have a break next round.
