Second Stage Round 8: Caen - Poitiers 74-67

There was a surprise result when ninth ranked Caen (6-10) beat at home second-ranked Poitiers (10-5) 74-67 on Friday. The winners were led by Senegalese center Moise Diame (206-1986) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 22 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) and American Kevin Bracy-Davis (202-1995, college: Davis & Elkins) supported him with 18 points and 5 assists. Even 10 points and 8 rebounds by forward Alexis Dargenton (203-1994, college: Utah St.) did not help to save the game for Poitiers. Point guard Marius Chambre (182-1998) added 8 points for the guests. Poitiers' coach tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Caen moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Toulouse and Les Sables. Loser Poitiers keeps the second position with five games lost. Caen will meet league's leader Etoile Angers on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Poitiers will play against Lyon and hope to secure a win and be promoted back to the ProB just one year after relegation.
