Regular Season Round 28: Jairis - Gandia 76-62

There was an upset when top-ranked Gandia (9-2) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Jairis (7-4) 76-62 on Saturday. Jairis made 29-of-36 free shots (80.6 percent) during the game, while Gandia only scored nine points from the stripe. They outrebounded Gandia 42-28 including a 34-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Khion Sankey (196-1992, college: Lipscomb) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds and forward Antonio Ferragut (196-1994) who added 10 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. At the losing side center Alejandro Vera (202-1997) responded with 17 points and 5 rebounds and forward Alejandro Terrades (196-2001) scored 15 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Jairis moved-up to fourth place in Group Eclasif, which they share with Lliria. Loser Gandia still keeps top position with two games lost. Jairis will meet higher ranked Murcia 2 (#3) on the road in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Gandia will play against Esportiu and hope to secure a win.
