Not a big story in a game when 14th ranked SparkassenStars (13-19) were outscored on the road by third ranked Science City Jena (21-10) 121-83 on Saturday. Science City Jena dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to SparkassenStars' 32. They outrebounded SparkassenStars 33-20 including 23 on the defensive glass. Science City Jena shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 53.8 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 35 assists comparing to just 18 passes made by SparkassenStars' players. American power forward Clinton Chapman (208-1989, college: Texas) notched 25 points and 6 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and the other American import guard Davonte Lacy (194-1993, college: WSU) supported him with 11 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Five Science City Jena players scored in double figures. Even 23 points and 5 assists by American guard Tony Hicks (186-1994, college: Louisville, agency: GoEmpire Group) did not help to save the game for SparkassenStars. Point guard Niklas Geske (188-1994) added 12 points and 5 assists for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Science City Jena maintains third position with 21-10 record having just two points less than leader Rostock. SparkassenStars lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keep the fourteenth place with 19 games lost. Science City Jena will meet Rasta Vechta (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
