Very predictable result when second ranked Sluc Nancy (20-9) won against at home 10th ranked Aix-Maurienne (13-15) 73-55 on Saturday. They outrebounded Aix-Maurienne 39-27 including a 35-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Sluc Nancy looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The winners were led by Stephane Gombauld (205-1997) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds and American guard Caleb Walker (194-1989, college: Nebraska) supported him with 14 points and 6 rebounds. Sluc Nancy's coach Sylvain Lautie used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 18 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists by American point guard Chaz Williams (175-1991, college: UMass, agency: BIG) did not help to save the game for Aix-Maurienne. Naturalized American forward Georgi Joseph (199-1982, college: KSU) added 10 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Sluc Nancy have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 20-9 record having just one point less than leader St-Chamond. Aix-Maurienne at the other side dropped to the ninth place with 15 games lost. They share the position with Saint Vallier and ASA. Sluc Nancy will meet at home Saint-Quentin (#5) in the next round. Aix-Maurienne will play against Saint Vallier (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
