There was no surprise in Giessen where 17th ranked 46ers (6-20) were defeated by third ranked Bayern Muenchen (20-7) 95-85 on Sunday. Bayern Muenchen outrebounded 46ers 37-18 including a 15-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American DeShaun Thomas (201-1991, college: Ohio St.) who scored 34 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds. His fellow American import Augustine Rubit (203-1989, college: USA, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds. Four Bayern Muenchen players scored in double figures. American guard Kendale McCullum (194-1996, college: Lewis, agency: Octagon Europe) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 assists and American-South Sudanese Nuni Omot (206-1994, college: Baylor) added 24 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Bayern Muenchen moved-up to second place. Loser 46ers keep the seventeenth position with 20 games lost. Bayern Muenchen will meet at home MBC (#16) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. 46ers will play against the league's leader Telekom Baskets in Bonn and hope to secure a win.
