Regular Season Round 40: Groningen - Mechelen 71-66

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Belgian Kangoeroes (6-1) on the court of third ranked Dutch Groningen on Friday night. Visitors were defeated by Groningen 71-66. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Kangoeroes. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Jimmy Gavin (191-1991, college: Winthrop) who helped to win the game recording 15 points. The other American import guard Marquis Addison (193-1991, college: MSSU) contributed with 14 points and 4 assists for the winners. Groningen's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American guard Myles Stephens (196-1997, college: Princeton) replied with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Domien Loubry (186-1985) added 25 points and 5 assists in the effort for Kangoeroes. Groningen (3-4) moved-up to second place, which they share with Leeuwarden. Kangoeroes at the other side still keep top position with one game lost. They share it with Brussels. Groningen is looking forward to face Antwerp Giants (#5) at home in the next round. Kangoeroes will have a break next round.
