There was no surprise when 9th ranked Enosi Kavalas (12-13) was defeated on the road by first ranked Karditsas (22-2) 74-66 on Saturday. The former international center Ioannis Bourousis (214-1983, agency: Octagon Europe) stepped up and scored 20 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and forward Dimitris Gravas (203-1993) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds. Four Karditsas players scored in double figures. Karditsas' coach Demetris Liogas allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American-Kosovan point guard Malcolm Armstead (185-1989, college: Wichita St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Konstantinos Abatzas (188-1993) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Karditsas maintains first place with 22-2 record. Enosi Kavalas lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth position with 13 games lost. Karditsas will meet Psychiko (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Enosi Kavalas will play against Agriniou (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
