We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when fourth ranked Alba (1-2) beat one of their biggest challengers Szolnok (1-2) in Szekesfehervar 98-85 on Saturday. Alba looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Szolnok's players. The winners were led by international swingman David Vojvoda (195-1990) who scored that evening 21 points and 6 assists and international point guard Marcell Pongo (194-1997, agency: Octagon Europe) supported him with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Alba's coach Matthias Zollner used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 22 points by American Markeith Cummings (198-1988, college: KSU) did not help to save the game for Szolnok. Montenegrin forward Bojan Subotic (203-1990) added 18 points and 8 rebounds for lost side. Five Alba and four Szolnok players scored in double figures. Alba left bottom position moving up to third place, which they share with Szolnok and Kaposvari. Alba will meet Sopron KC (#5) on the road in the next round. Szolnok will play against the league's leader Szombathely and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
