Regular Season Round 22: Peristeri - Aris 67-70

The most exciting game of round 22 in the A1 took place in Athens. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 7th ranked Peristeri (8-12) to eighth ranked Aris (9-12) 70-67 on Saturday evening. Peristeri was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 24-20 charge of Aris, which allowed them to win the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Eric Lockett (196-1995, college: NC State) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds. The other American import point guard Anthony Cowan Jr (183-1997, college: Maryland) contributed with 17 points and 7 assists for the winners. Lockett is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Polish forward Tomasz Gielo (205-1993, college: Ole Miss) replied with 17 points and American point guard Glenn Cosey (183-1992, college: EKU) added 14 points in the effort for Peristeri. Peristeri's coach Milan Tomic tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Aris moved-up to seventh place. Peristeri lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth position with 12 games lost. Aris are looking forward to face league's second-placed Panathinaikos in Athens in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Peristeri will play on the road against Ionikos (#13) in Aigaleo and is hoping to win this game.
