Regular Season Round 29: Blois - St-Chamond 76-77

Third-ranked ADA Blois (17-12) gave a tough game to first ranked Saint Chamond (23-6) on Saturday. The visitors from Saint Chamond managed to secure only one-point victory 77-76. However their fans expected easier game. Saint Chamond looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American forward Hasan Varence (198-1997, college: Ohio Dominican, agency: Duran International) stepped up and scored 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and American-Nigerian guard Michael Oguine (188-1996, college: Montana) chipped in 15 points and 6 rebounds. Saint Chamond's coach Alain Thinet used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Point guard Thomas Cornely (190-1991) responded with 15 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals and American forward Tyren Johnson (201-1988, college: La-Lafayette) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. Five Saint Chamond and four ADA Blois players scored in double figures. Saint Chamond have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain first place with 23-6 record. ADA Blois at the other side keeps the third position with 12 games lost. They share it with Evreux and Chalon. Saint Chamond are looking forward to face league's second-placed Sluc Nancy at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. ADA Blois will play against Denain Voltaire and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
