There was a surprise result when tenth ranked Brose Bamberg (15-15) edged at home higher ranked ratiopharm Ulm (19-10) 115-114 on Sunday. Brose Bamberg made 26-of-31 free shots (83.9 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was an exceptional evening for Panamanian-American center Akil Mitchell (206-1992, college: Virginia) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds. International power forward Christian Sengfelder (202-1995, college: Boise St.) accounted for 23 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. American Jaron Blossomgame (199-1993, college: Clemson) came up with 37 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) and the other American import guard Sindarius Thornwell (196-1994, college: S.Carolina) added 27 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for ratiopharm Ulm in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. ratiopharm Ulm's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Brose Bamberg maintains tenth place with 15-15 record. Loser ratiopharm Ulm keeps the fifth position with ten games lost. They share it with Chemnitz. Brose Bamberg will meet higher ranked ALBA Berlin (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. ratiopharm Ulm will play against Bayreuth and hope to secure a win.
