Ninth-ranked Tskhum-Abkhazeti (7-12) gave a tough game to first ranked TSU (16-3) in Tbilisi on Sunday. The visitors managed to secure only two-point victory 98-96. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests trailed by 11 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 2 points. TSU forced 20 Tskhum-Abkhazeti turnovers. Americans were the main players on the court. Guard Lovell Cabbil (188-1997, college: Liberty) stepped up and scored 33 points (!!!), 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 7 steals (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) for the winners and point guard Juvaris Hayes (183-1998, college: Merrimack) chipped in 9 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Cabbil is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The best for the losing side was guard Marquill Smith (193-1996, college: UWG) with 26 points and 8 rebounds and forward Jai Williams (206-1995, college: St.Joseph's) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. Four TSU and five Tskhum-Abkhazeti players scored in double figures. TSU have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with 16-3 record. Tskhum-Abkhazeti at the other side keeps the ninth position with 12 games lost. TSU's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi Titebi.
