Regular Season Round 31: ASA - Vichy Clermont 73-72

There was an upset when higher ranked JA Vichy (16-15) was edged by thirteenth ranked ASA (14-17) in Gries 73-72 on Friday. ASA forced 19 JA Vichy turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for Serbian power forward Strahinja Gavrilovic (206-1993, college: USC) who led the winners and scored 17 points and 8 rebounds. American point guard Marquis Wright (185-1995, college: Siena) accounted for 12 points and 6 assists for the winning side. ASA's coach Julien Espinosa used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Guard Leopold Delaunay (193-2001) came up with 13 points and 7 rebounds and Central African power forward Jimmy Djimrabaye (203-1992) added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively for JA Vichy in the defeat. Four JA Vichy players scored in double figures. ASA moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Aix-Maurienne. Loser JA Vichy dropped to the eighth position with 15 games lost. ASA will meet higher ranked Chalon/Saor (#6) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. JA Vichy will play against Saint-Quentin and hope to secure a win.
