Regular Season Round 31: Socuellamos - Guimar 84-89

There was a small surprise when twelfth ranked Guimar (12-13) defeated on the road 10th ranked Socuellamos (13-16) 89-84 on Saturday. Strangely Socuellamos outrebounded Guimar 40-24 including a 33-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for forward Javier Herreros (198-1994) who led the winners and scored 25 points. Argentinian point guard Gaston Zalazar (190-1996) accounted for 14 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side. American guard Jordan Hickman (201-1996, college: Sonoma St.) came up with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his eight free throws) and forward Mario Melero (190-1994) added 21 points respectively for Socuellamos in the defeat. Five Guimar and four Socuellamos players scored in double figures. Socuellamos' coach Gabriel Martinez rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted Guimar maintains twelfth place in Group B with 12-13 record. Socuellamos at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the tenth position with 16 games lost. They share it with La Matanza.
