Regular Season Round 31: Pau-Lacq-Orthez - Cholet 76-87

There was a small surprise when tenth ranked Cholet Basket (16-15) defeated on the road 8th ranked Pau-Lacq-Orthez (16-14) 87-76 on Saturday. Cholet Basket forced 19 Pau-Lacq-Orthez turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was an exceptional evening for power forward Yoan Makoundou (206-2000, agency: BeoBasket) who led the winners and scored 17 points and 8 rebounds. American guard Dominic Artis (192-1993, college: UTEP, agency: Pensack Sports) accounted for 15 points and 6 assists for the winning side. Slovenian Gregor Hrovat (196-1994, agency: Octagon Europe) came up with 15 points and 6 rebounds and Zimbabwean power forward Vitalis Chikoko (208-1991, agency: LUMANI 10.7) added 13 points respectively for Pau-Lacq-Orthez in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Cholet Basket moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Nanterre. Pau-Lacq-Orthez lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 14 games lost. Cholet Basket will meet at home league's leader Metropolitans in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Pau-Lacq-Orthez will play against Entente Orleans 45 (#16) and hope to secure a win.
