Kauhajoki overcame Vilpas in the opener. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 90-68. Kauhajoki forced 20 Vilpas turnovers and outrebounded them 33-20 including 18 on the offensive glass. American players dominated the game. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Lee Skinner (198-1992, college: Wofford) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 8 rebounds. Swingman Rene Rougeau (198-1986, college: UNLV, agency: Blacktop Management) contributed with 16 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Five Kauhajoki players scored in double figures. Power forward Jeremiah Wood (200-1985, agency: Inception Sports) answered with 18 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and guard Marcus LoVett Jr (183-1996, college: St.John's) added 12 points in the effort for Vilpas. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
