Regular Season Round 32: Castello - Granada 69-73
Date: May 6, 2022
Very predictable result when second ranked Granada (25-8) won against 9th ranked Castello (16-15) in Castellon 73-69 on Friday. Granada dominated down low during the game scoring 40 of its points in the paint compared to Castello's 20. The winners were led by American-Liberian guard Thomas Bropleh (196-1991, college: Boise St., agency: Duran International) who scored that evening 18 points (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and Senegalese center Mamadou Niang (209-1994) supported him with 8 points and 9 rebounds. Even 24 points by American forward Calvin Hermanson (200-1994, college: St.Mary's, CA) did not help to save the game for Castello. His fellow American import forward Eric Stutz (205-1992, college: EKU) added 19 points for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Granada keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Estudiantes. Loser Castello keeps the ninth place with 15 games lost. They share the position with Valladolid. Granada will meet at home Almansa (#14) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Castello will play against Coruna (#5) and hope to secure a win.
