Regular Season Round 33: Saint Vallier - ASA 79-87

Not a big story in a game when 11th ranked Saint Vallier (14-19) was defeated at home by ninth ranked ASA (16-17) 87-79 on Saturday. ASA looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Serbian power forward Strahinja Gavrilovic (206-1993, college: USC) stepped up and scored 24 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and guard Sofiane Briki (193-1999) chipped in 8 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. The best for the losing side was American-Jamaican center Ryan Rhoomes (203-1992, college: Fordham) with 20 points and 9 rebounds and Florent Tortosa (198-1989) scored 13 points and 6 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Saint Vallier's coach Philippe Namyst let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. The victory was the third consecutive win for ASA. They moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Vichy Clermont. Saint Vallier at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the thirteenth position with 19 games lost. They share it with Nantes and Denain. ASA will meet at home league's second-placed Saint Chamond in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Saint Vallier will play against Nantes (#13) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
