Regular Season Round 34: Joventut - Obradoiro 78-84

There was a surprise result when fifteenth ranked Obradoiro (12-21) won against higher ranked Joventut (19-12) in Badalona 84-78 on Wednesday. Lithuanian center Laurynas Birutis (213-1997) notched 20 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and Canadian guard Kassius Robertson (190-1994, college: Missouri, agency: Octagon Europe) supported him with 15 points and 5 assists. Even 18 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his ten free throws !!!) by Croatian center Ante Tomic (217-1987, agency: Octagon Europe) did not help to save the game for Joventut. American Derek Willis (206-1995, college: Kentucky) added 15 points and 10 rebounds for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Obradoiro moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Real Betis. Loser Joventut dropped to the seventh position with 12 games lost. Obradoiro will meet at home higher ranked Valencia (#3) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Joventut will play against Baskonia (#5) in Vitoria and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
