Regular Season Round 35: Murcia - Zaragoza 72-77

There was a surprise result when sixteenth ranked Zaragoza (12-22) beat on the road higher ranked Murcia (16-18) 77-72 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was Montenegrin Dino Radoncic (202-1999) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds. Nigerian forward Christian Mekowulu (205-1995, college: Texas A&M) chipped in 13 points and 8 rebounds. Mekowulu is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Zaragoza players scored in double figures. American James Webb III (203-1993, college: Boise St.) produced 13 points and 9 rebounds and Greek swingman Kostas Vasileiadis (200-1984, agency: Wasserman) added 14 points (was perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line !!!) respectively for the hosts. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Zaragoza moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with Obradoiro and Fuenlabrada. Murcia lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the ninth position with 18 games lost. They share it with Breogan and Bilbao.
