Olympiacos upset Panathinaikos in Athens to take 2-0 lead in the championship series. The guests trailed by 14 points at the halftime before their 46-26 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Panathinaikos outrebounded Olympiacos 42-29 including 18 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was Cypriot-Bulgarian Aleksandar Vezenkov (206-1995) who scored 19 points. The former international point guard Kostas Sloukas (190-1990) chipped in 20 points and 4 assists. Olympiacos' coach Giorgos Bartzokas used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international forward Ioannis Papapetrou (203-1994, college: Texas) produced 17 points and 9 rebounds and the former international center Georgios Papagiannis (220-1997) added 12 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Four Panathinaikos players scored in double figures.
