Regular Season Round 3: Hamm - Leverkusen 2 83-81

Hamm used a home court advantage and edged the opponent from Leverkusen 83-81 on Saturday night. Hamm dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Leverkusen 2's 26 and made 22-of-28 free shots (78.6 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for American guard John Murry (192-1995, college: Austin Peay) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Naturalized Bosnian forward Mateo Zovko (193-1998, college: Laramie CC) accounted for 16 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Worth to mention Murry played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped get the job in pro basketball. Point guard Viktor Frankl-Maus (186-1993) came up with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and Thomas Michel (200-1995) added 9 points and 4 assists respectively for Leverkusen 2 in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Hamm will meet Hagen BG (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Leverkusen 2 will play against Hertener Loewen (#2) and hope to win that game.
