Regular Season Round 1: Future Team - Blackbirds 59-84

An interesting game was played in Steiermark where Blackbirds crushed host Future Team with 25-point difference 84-59 on Friday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Blackbirds. Future Team managed to win second period 13-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Blackbirds dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Future Team's 28. The former international forward Sebastian Koch (200-1988) stepped up and scored 20 points for the winners and Hungarian guard Mate Horvath (182-2003) chipped in 15 points. At the losing side point guard David Mlekusch (183-2003) responded with 10 points and Valdemar Hansen scored 12 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Blackbirds will meet at home Alligators in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Future Team will play against Flames in Vienna and hope to win that game.
