There was a surprise result when Valur edged on the road Grindavik 68-67 on Friday. Grindavik was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Croatian forward Ozren Pavlovic (203-1994, college: Hawaii) scored 14 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international forward Kristofer Acox (198-1993, college: Furman) chipped in 7 points and 13 rebounds during the contest. Four Valur players scored in double figures. The former international guard Olafur Olafsson (194-1990) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds and Greek center Gaios Skordilis (207-1987) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 14 rebounds. Grindavik's coach Johann Olafsson rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Valur will meet at home Breidablik in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Grindavik will play against Keflavik and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
