Regular Season Round 3: Besiktas - Pinar Karsiyaka 81-92

There was no surprise in Istanbul where Besiktas (0-3) was defeated by Pinar Karsiyaka (3-0) 92-81 on Saturday. Pinar Karsiyaka dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Besiktas' 30. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. It was a great evening for Dominican Angel Delgado (208-1994, college: Seton Hall) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). American forward Vitto Brown (203-1995, college: Wisconsin) helped adding 17 points and 5 rebounds. Pinar Karsiyaka's coach Ufuk Sarica used an eleven-player rotation saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was American Matt Mooney (189-1997, college: Texas Tech) with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists and the former international swingman Okben Ulubay (201-1997) scored 18 points. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Pinar Karsiyaka will meet at home Tofas (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Besiktas' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Istanbul to the arena Galatasaray.
