Regular Season Round 5: Fellbach - Saarlouis 110-75
Date: October 16, 2022
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when leader Saarlouis (5-1) were outscored on the road by second ranked Fellbach (4-1) 110-75 on Sunday. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in South-West. Fellbach dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Saarlouis' 40. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 35 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Saarlouis' players. Point guard Zaire Thompson (180-1995, college: Fordham) nailed 21 points and 6 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winning side and Lithuanian point guard Tauras Ulevicius (190-1997) accounted for 12 points and 14 assists. Five Fellbach players scored in double figures. Fellbach's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Ricky Easterling (189-1983, college: Bridgewater) came up with 24 points and 5 rebounds and the other American import center Jordan Camper (203, college: Lincoln, PA) added 17 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) respectively for Saarlouis in the defeat. Fellbach maintains second place in South-West with 4-1 record having just three point less than leader TSV Troester, which they share with Stuttgart. Loser Saarlouis still keep top position with one game lost. Fellbach will meet Ulm BBU 01 (#7) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Saarlouis will play against Reutlingen (#6) and hope to secure a win.
