Regular Season Round 3: Targu Jiu - Rapid 64-85

Very expected game when Targu Jiu (0-2) was smashed at home by Rapid (3-0) 85-64 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Rapid. Targu Jiu managed to win third quarter 23-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was an exceptional evening for American Tyler Stone (203-1991, college: SEMO) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists. Serbian Mladen Jeremic (198-1988, agency: 011 Sports) accounted for 16 points and 5 assists for the winning side. Four Rapid players scored in double figures. Canadian Shamiel Stevenson (198-1998, college: Nebraska, agency: Interperformances) came up with 18 points and 7 rebounds and forward Camil Berculescu-Rovinaru (192-1998) added 13 points and 11 rebounds respectively for Targu Jiu in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Rapid will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Targu Jiu will play against Miercurea Ciuc (#9) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
