Regular Season Round 7: Olomouc Bbal - Svitavy 47-89

There was no surprise when 6th ranked Olomouc Bbal (2-4) was crushed at home by leader Svitavy (6-0) 89-47 on Friday. Svitavy dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Olomouc Bbal's 32. Svitavy forced 25 Olomouc Bbal turnovers and outrebounded them 42-25 including a 33-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for forward Jakub Jokl (208-1996, college: Utah) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points. The former international guard Pavel Slezak (186-1984) helped adding 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his seven free throws). Four Svitavy players scored in double figures. Svitavy's coach Peter Balint felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side Jakub Kotala (191-2001) responded with 8 points and 4 steals and guard Adam Srnik (187-2002) scored 10 points. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Svitavy. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Novy Jicin and GBA Lions. Loser Olomouc Bbal keeps the sixth place with four games lost. They share the position with 4 other teams. Svitavy will meet at home league's leader Novy Jicin in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Olomouc Bbal will play against Prostejov (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
