Regular Season Round 6: Lorient - Poitiers 81-84

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Poitiers and 10th ranked Lorient had identical 2-3 record. But Lorient was not able to use a home court advantage and was edged by the opponent from Poitiers 84-81 on Saturday night. Poitiers looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American swingman Marcus Relphorde (198-1988, college: Colorado) scored 23 points and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Charly Pontens (190-1995) chipped in 10 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was point guard Hugo Suhard (184-1992) with 17 points and 8 assists and Kevin Mondesir (204-1991) scored 17 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Poitiers (3-3) moved-up to seventh place in Group A, which they share with Rueil. Loser Lorient dropped to the ninth position with four games lost. They share it with Tarbes-Lourdes and Les Sables. Poitiers will meet at home league's second-placed Union Rennes in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Lorient will play against the league's leader C'Chartres (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
