Regular Season Round 4: Breidablik - Keflavik 97-82

Date: October 27, 2022
The most surprising game was the first loss of Keflavik (3-1) in Kopavogur on Thursday night. Visitors were defeated by sixth ranked Breidablik (3-1) 97-82. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Keflavik. The hosts trailed by 11 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 12-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 97-82. Breidablik made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Breidablik made 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Everage Richardson (191-1985, college: Coastal) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 26 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import guard Jeremy Smith (190-1991, college: Nicholls St.) who added 20 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American-Puerto Rican guard Eric Ayala (196-1999, college: Maryland) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and Croatian forward Igor Maric (195-1985, agency: PEPI SPORT) scored 16 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Keflavik's coach Hjalti Vilhjalmsson rotated twelve players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Breidablik moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Keflavik. Breidablik is looking forward to face IR (#11) in Reykjavik in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Keflavik will play at home against Haukar (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
