Regular Season Round 7: Kretinga - Vilkaviskis 78-90

There was a minor upset when 5th ranked Kretinga (3-3) was defeated at home by seventh ranked Vilkaviskis (4-3) 90-78 on Thursday. Vilkaviskis dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Kretinga's 44. They outrebounded Kretinga 37-25 including 25 on the defensive glass. Vilkaviskis looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Rokas Stankevicius (202-1995, agency: BIG) fired 20 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Center Ernestas Narusevicius (207-2001) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds. Four Vilkaviskis players scored in double figures. Vilkaviskis' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Martynas Mazeika (193-1985, agency: Interperformances) produced 19 points and point guard Mantvydas Zukauskas (192-1998) added 10 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for lost side. The victory was the third consecutive win for Vilkaviskis. They moved-up to fifth place. Loser Kretinga dropped to the seventh position with three games lost. Vilkaviskis will meet at home league's leader Telsiai in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Kretinga will play against Delikatesas (#9) in Joniskis and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
