Regular Season Round 4: Ancona - Cagliari 64-60
Date: October 29, 2022
Not a big story in a game when bottom-ranked Cagliari (0-4) lost on the road to eighth ranked Ancona (3-1) 64-60 on Saturday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The winners were led by point guard Margherita Mataloni (170-1995) who scored that evening 16 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and power forward Serena Bona (183-1989, agency: SLN) supported her with 18 points and 7 rebounds. Ancona's coach Sandro Castorina used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Even 15 points and 9 rebounds by Polish power forward Karolina Stawinska (186-1997) did not help to save the game for Cagliari. Guard Sara Giangrasso (175-2000) added 15 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. Ancona keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 5 other teams. Cagliari at the other side still closes the standings with four games lost. They share the position with Vicenza. Ancona will meet Firenze (#7) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Cagliari will play against Empoli (#4) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
