Regular Season Round 5: Keflavik - Haukar 106-84

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both fifth ranked Keflavik and 4th placed Haukar had identical 3-1 record. This time Keflavik used a home court advantage and crushed the opponent from Hafnarfjordur 106-84 on Thursday night. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Keflavik. Haukar managed to win second period 30-25. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Keflavik dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Haukar's 28 and made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. Lithuanian center Dominykas Milka (203-1992, college: St.Rose, NY) stepped up and scored 25 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and American-Puerto Rican guard Eric Ayala (196-1999, college: Maryland) chipped in 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Danish forward Daniel Mortensen (204-1994, college: Barry) responded with 23 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Lithuanian power forward Norbertas Giga (208-1995, college: JSU) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Keflavik (4-1) keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted Haukar dropped to the fifth place with two games lost. They share the position with Grindavik and Hottur. Keflavik will meet bottom-ranked Thor Thorl (#12) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Haukar will play against IR (#11) and hope to secure a win.
