Regular Season Round 8: Aachen - Koeln DTV 80-89

There was no surprise when 14th ranked Aachen (1-7) lost at home to twelfth ranked Koeln DTV (3-5) 89-80 on Saturday. The winners were led by point guard Patrick Reusch (185-1993) who scored that evening 22 points and guard Jacob Engelhardt (190-1997) supported him with 16 points and 5 rebounds. Even 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists by swingman Tim Schoenborn (193-1990) did not help to save the game for Aachen. Felix Huesmann added 16 points and 7 rebounds for the hosts. Four Koeln DTV and five Aachen players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Koeln DTV moved-up to ninth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Aachen lost fourth consecutive game. Aachen at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the thirteenth position with seven games lost. They share it with Bergedorf. Koeln DTV will meet at home Bonn 2 (#11) in the next round. Aachen will play against the league's second-placed Recklinghausen and will have a slim chance for a victory.
