Regular Season Round 7: Giessen - Schwenningen 78-73

Bottom-ranked Schwenningen (0-7) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 78-73 loss to eighth ranked 46ers (4-3) in Giessen on Sunday evening. They also forced 22 Schwenningen turnovers. Strangely Schwenningen outrebounded 46ers 50-35 including a 39-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. 28 personal fouls committed by Schwenningen helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Serbian forward Stefan Fundic (200-1994, agency: BeoBasket) fired a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. American point guard Jordan Barnes (178-1997, college: Indiana St.) chipped in 16 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. 46ers' coach Branislav Ignjatovic used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American point guard Casey Benson (191-1995, college: GCU) produced 16 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and Jacob Knauf (210-1997) added 14 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. 46ers moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 5 other teams. Schwenningen at the other side still closes the standings with seven games lost. 46ers is looking forward to face Kirchheim Knights (#11) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Schwenningen will play against Leverkusen (#16) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
