Regular Season Round 9: ETB Miners - Leverkusen 2 83-80

Sixth-ranked Leverkusen 2 (4-5) was very close to win a game against first ranked ETB Miners (8-1) in Essen on Saturday. ETB Miners managed to secure only three-point victory 83-80. However their fans expected much easier game. ETB Miners forced 20 Leverkusen 2 turnovers. It was a good game for American guard Devin Peterson (185, college: WCU) who led his team to a victory with 24 points, 9 assists and 4 steals. Bulgarian Milen Zahariev (190-1992) contributed with 21 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Thomas Fankhauser (201-2001) answered with 23 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and center Yannick Kneesch (204-1996) added 15 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Leverkusen 2. Four Leverkusen 2 players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. ETB Miners have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They maintain first place with 8-1 record. Leverkusen 2 at the other side dropped to the seventh position with five games lost. They share it with 10 other teams. ETB Miners are looking forward to face Hagen BG (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day.
