Date: November 18, 2022
One of the most interesting games of round 8 was a derby match between two teams from Rigas-Stradina-Universitate-Riga. Sixth ranked RSU outleveled visiting TTT Riga (0-3) 74-41. RSU dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to TTT Riga's 30. RSU forced 21 TTT Riga turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. The winners were led by center Evelina Otto (187-2006) who scored that evening 16 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and Katrina Ozola (188-2004) supported her with 15 points and 6 rebounds. Even 10 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists by forward Kate Karlina Kreslina (184-1996, college: Fordham) did not help to save the game for TTT Riga. Center Marta Miscenko (192-1995, college: Wingate) added 10 points and 10 rebounds for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. RSU have a solid three-game winning streak. Despite that victory RSU went down to seventh position due to points difference. Defending Latvian champion TTT Riga still closes the standings with three games lost. RSU's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Riga to the arena .
