Regular Season Round 6: Peristeri - Aris 92-90

The most exciting game of round 6 in the GBL took place in Athens. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 6th ranked Aris (3-3) to fifth ranked Peristeri (4-2) 92-90 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Aris. Peristeri made 22-of-29 free shots (75.9 percent) during the game, while Aris only scored six points from the stripe. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. 26 personal fouls committed by Aris helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American guard Marcus Denmon (191-1990, college: Missouri, agency: BeoBasket) scored 23 points (went 12 for 12 at the free throw line !!!) to lead the charge for the winners and the former international forward Dimitrios Agravanis (208-1994, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 14 points and 4 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was the former international point guard Vasileios Toliopoulos (186-1996) with 38 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds and Canadian guard Elijah Mitrou-Long (185-1996, college: UNLV) scored 12 points and 4 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Aris' coach Ioannis Kastritis rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Peristeri have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with PAOK. Aris at the other side keeps the sixth position with three games lost. Peristeri is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Lavrio (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Aris will play against Karditsas (#10) and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
