Regular Season Round 11: Honka - Kotka 78-94

Very expected game in Espoo where 12th ranked Honka (2-9) was defeated by sixth ranked Kotka (6-5) 94-78. The game was mostly controlled by Kotka. Honka was better in fourth quarter 21-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Honka was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Brandon Tabb (193-1995, college: BCU) who led the winners and scored 24 points and 4 assists. His fellow American import guard Roydell Brown (198-1998, college: McNeese St.) accounted for 18 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side. Tabb is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Canadian guard Malcolm Duvivier (190-1995, college: Akron) came up with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international Carl Lindbom (206-1991, agency: BIG) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Honka in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kotka moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Vilpas. Honka lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with nine games lost. Kotka will play against Kouvot (#7) in Kouvola in the next round. Honka will play on the road against Lahti (#9) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
