Regular Season Round 7: Njardvik - Haukar 75-71

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both fourth ranked Njardvik and 5th ranked Haukar had identical 4-2 record. This time Njardvik used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Hafnarfjordur 75-71 on Thursday night. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. The former international guard Haukur Palsson (198-1992, college: Maryland) fired a double-double by scoring 10 points, 17 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Croatian power forward Mario Matasovic (200-1993, college: Sacred Heart) chipped in a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds. Lithuanian power forward Norbertas Giga (208-1995, college: JSU) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) and American point guard Dee Davis (178-1993, college: Xavier) added 19 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Five Njardvik and four Haukar players scored in double figures. Njardvik (5-2) moved-up to second place, which they share with Keflavik and Breidablik. Newly promoted Haukar keeps the fifth position with three games lost. They share it with Tindastoll and Stjarnan. Njardvik will meet bottom-ranked Thor Thorl (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Haukar will play against Tindastoll (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
