Rather predictable result when fourth ranked Ploiesti CSM (5-2) defeated at home 7th ranked Craiova (2-4) 77-73 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 22-17. But Craiova won second period 20-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ploiesti CSM looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Serbian center Veljko Brkic (206-1995) fired 23 points for the winners. American point guard Kwamain Mitchell (180-1989, college: St.Louis) chipped in 18 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). The former international point guard Giordan Watson (179-1985, college: CMU) produced 21 points and 5 assists and Serbian Milivoje Mijovic (200-1991, agency: 011 Sports) added 13 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Ploiesti CSM. They maintain fourth place with 5-2 record. Loser Craiova dropped to the sixth position with four games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Ploiesti CSM will meet Sibiu (#5) on the road in the next round. Craiova will play against Targu Jiu and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
